ESG and Circular Economy Strategy

Align profit with purpose, and turn sustainability into your next competitive advantage.

Why it matters

Sustainability is no longer a PR initiative - it’s a strategic necessity.
Companies that embrace ESG and circular economy models don’t just comply, they reduce risk, unlock efficiency, attract talent, and lead markets.

Early adopters gain:

  • Access to capital and procurement opportunities

  • Cost savings through smarter resource use

  • Stronger brand loyalty and trust

  • Resilience in a volatile regulatory environment

The question is no longer if you need a sustainability strategy, but how fast you can align it with your core business model.

From Regulatory Pressure to Sustainability Leadership

Sector: Packaging Manufacturing (Serbia, exporting to the EU)

Challenge:
The company exports to the EU market and faced increasing pressure from buyers and partners to demonstrate compliance with ESG principles. Internally, there was no defined sustainability strategy, and teams feared it would become “expensive paperwork with no real impact.”

Our Approach:
Through an ESG maturity and resource flow diagnostic, we identified actual business risks – such as poor waste management and lack of traceability in raw material sourcing.
We developed a strategy and ESG roadmap focused on operational efficiency and market positioning, not just reporting.
We also supported the creation of a reporting structure aligned with the EU CSRD directive and harmonized with national legislation (Environmental Protection Act, Accounting Act – non-financial disclosures).

Outcome:

  • 25% reduction in waste and resource-related costs in the first year

  • Recognized as a “sustainable supplier” by three new partners from Germany

  • First ESG report developed in-house and used in investor communications

Circular Economy as a Source of Innovation

Sector: Furniture Manufacturing / Private company in Vojvodina

Challenge:
The company was generating large volumes of wood scraps and by-products, previously treated as waste. They wanted to explore a business model that would utilize these resources but didn’t know where to begin or whether it would be financially viable.

Our Approach:
We mapped material flows and analyzed the potential for circular models – including product life extension, reusing scraps for new product lines, and potential partnerships with social enterprises.
A pilot line was defined for decorative items and packaging made from waste materials, and a business model was created for a “zero waste workshop” inside the company.

Outcome:

  • New product line launched using reclaimed materials (10% additional revenue)

  • Participation in a national circular economy project through the Development Agency of Serbia

  • Increased visibility and partnerships with sustainability-oriented brands

Repositioning Through ESG - From Supplier to Strategic Partner

Sector: Technical Services and Engineering / Foreign client (EU-based company with operations in Serbia)

Challenge:
The company aimed to compete in tenders with major EU corporations requiring ESG standards and evidence of social responsibility.
However, their local operations in Serbia lacked even basic ESG indicators and had no internal reporting practices in place.

Our Approach:
Through an ESG strategy, we focused on topics that were truly material for them: worker health and safety, energy efficiency in facilities, and community engagement.
We created a recognizable narrative around their good practices and structured them into an ESG profile, which they later used in negotiations.

Outcome:

  • Gained credibility with HQ and inclusion in the global ESG report

  • Won tenders with two new EU corporations

  • Internal practices integrated into HR and operations as a new “way of working”
